Do you do the whole package (i.e. tiling, plumbing, electric, demolition, wall removal)?
No, Traemand specializes in cabinetry installation. However, we have contractors we can refer you to or we can assist the trades of your choice in coordinating the other work in your kitchen, bath or closet installation process.
How long will it take to install my cabinetry?
A good rule of thumb is approximately one day for each thousand dollars of materials you buy. The average sized kitchen will take approximately two or three days to install. The average bath one to two days and closets from one to three days depending on their complexity. Also we will need one half to one full day for a return visit to install items that were missing or damaged from shipping (if any). We keep in touch with you so we can schedule a time after these replacement items arrive at your jobsite. Return trips beyond this scope result in extra charges.
Do you install countertops?
Yes and No.
- IKEA Numerar Butcher block: We can cut to fit butcher block countertops from IKEA.
- IKEA Numerar and Pragel Laminates: We can install only those laminate countertops purchased from IKEA that will fit precisely on the run of cabinets we install.
- Granite or Corian: Must be templated and installed by the granite or Corian countertop installation company.

Do I need professional measurements before I get started?
We strongly recommend it and offer it as a service bundled with our planning service. However, if you are confident in your ability to measure properly we encourage you to do your own measurements.
Do I need professional design services before I get started?
Again we strongly recommend that your project be planned by one of our experienced consultants. Traemand offers this service for a modest fee. We have completed thousands of installations and we follow up with our customers to see how they like living with the plan they chose. That level of learning is hard for most individuals to duplicate on their own. Choose "Planning Services" in the menu bar at the top of this page to start the planning process with our help.
Should I do my own assembly and let Traemand do the installation? Won’t I save money that way?
Traemand does not offer an “assembly only” or an “installation only” service. Assembly-only services will take doors and drawer fronts out of their protective packaging to attach to the frames before the frames are installed. We emphatically recommend against that -- a jobsite can be a rough place for unprotected, finished surfaces on uninstalled cabinets! Also, underneath hinges and drawer rails are excellent places to hide fasteners connecting one frame to another. You can't do this if the hinges and rails are already installed!
In over a decade of experience we have almost never gone to an "installation only" job where the assembly was uniformly completed to our standard. The reason is not that our customers are bad carpenters – just inexperienced or in a hurry! We are very particular about how the assembly occurs because the strength of the frames is based on the proper assembly. By the time we tear down and re-assemble the out-of-spec frames, the customer would have almost always been better off cost-wise if we had assembled them.
We do not say all of this to sell you more services (although admittedly that is what happens when we assemble and install). We find our customer satisfaction levels (which we measure) are higher when we perform both services.
What is the average cost of an IKEA cabinetry installation?
If you know your materials cost, our installation services are typically 75% or so of that figure. Smaller kitchen installations run from $1,000 to $1,500, plus or minus. Larger kitchens can be substantially more.
Installing countertops, performing demolition or doing other services will change your costs.

What if I over-buy parts from IKEA? Will Traemand return them?
No. IKEA does not allow it. You may return your items to IKEA for a refund provided they are in their original, unopened boxes.
What territory do you serve?
Check our zip code locator to see if your jobsite is in our installation area. We install for the IKEA stores in:
- Elizabeth and Paramus, New Jersey;
- Hicksville (Long Island), New York;
- Stoughton (Boston), Massachusetts;
- New Haven, Connecticut; and
- Frisco (DFW) and Houston, Texas.
We travel to locations in and surrounding these areas (such as Louisiana and Austin and San Antonio in Texas). We are increasing our service area all the time so call us if you are in an area we haven’t mentioned.
Are there a minimum number of items I must have installed?
No, however, minimum charges apply. See the store for more details.
Do you have a guarantee?
Yes. Traemand has a guarantee on our labor for one year on jobs where we complete both the assembly and installation. IKEA has a limited 10 year warranty on their parts as well.
