Do you have experience with frameless cabinet installations? If so how many installations have you completed?
Traemand is the largest installer of European frameless cabinets in North America. We believe the key to a successful cabinet installation is experience and dedication to following the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Most North American cabinets are preassembled “face-frame” cabinets and most installers only have experience with this type of installation. European frameless cabinet manufacturers use a “frameless” design that is the industry standard for Europe, Australia and Asia and is growing at a tremendous rate here.
Unfortunately, many installers are carpenters who approach the installation of frameless cabinets with a “how hard can it be” attitude or a “just like any other cabinet” approach. We see the results of this thinking often, and every year we are asked to advise unhappy homeowners on incorrect installations. When we are called out to these situations we almost always find a zip lock bag with “extra” parts and assembly that did not follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
How do you install the cabinets?
“According to the manufacturer’s instructions,” is the right way for any installer to start their answer. We go a bit further. Traemand has installed displays in a number of stores using our “Retail Ready” concept and our proprietary European techniques. A retail display takes a beating from the minute the store opens to the moment it closes (Have you ever had a fully loaded shopping cart in your kitchen!). We have developed a series of “tweaks” that we use to make the displays more durable in a retail environment. We use these same proprietary procedures in your installation. They make a real difference in the long-term durability of your cabinets.
Are you insured?
Ask to see the certificate of insurance – both liability and worker’s comp -- and then call the broker to verify the coverage is still active. You may be surprised at what you find.
Your employees will be in my home. Have they had background checks? If so, what are your procedures? Would you put that in writing?
Again, ask to see these policies in writing – after all these people will be in your home.
